ALL ABOUT LYNN AND CLAYTON CHEECHOO

The Freedom to Create

Clayton and Lynn began their musical journey together in 1991 when Clayton joined "Syren" as bass player. Clayton appeared in "Let Them Live", the video-cassette tribute to the Lubicon Cree  which was aired on Much Music. In 1994 after Syren recorded "Wisdom of the Heart", the couple moved to Clayton's home community on Moose Cree First Nation and began work on their first solo recording, "Red Willow Bending" released locally in 2003."Red Willow Bending" is now distributed by CDBaby worldwide.

With the assistance of a Canada Council for the Arts grant Lynn and Clayton produced father James Cheechoo's "Shaycheeman", a compilation of traditional James Bay fiddle music from the Hudson Bay Company fur trade era.

Lynn is an award winning vocalist and composer receiving  "Best New Vocalist," and "Top Reggae Duo" (CASBY and BMAC Awards in 1985), garnering a Juno nomination  for "Higher Love" from the LP "The One," (with sister Lea Harper) for her work in Syren.

Clayton and Lynn are currently working on new material in their home studio and creating videos for their music.
